NoBabel™ Enhancer Basic User Guide

With NoBabel Enhancer you will get Total Leveraging from your existing Translation Memories (TMs). You can upload documents and TMs in any of the supported languages. From your TMs, the Enhancer will generate new NoBabel Translation Units (TUs), useful in translating your new document(s) in the source language(s) of the related TM(s). The more closely the new document(s) and TM(s) are related, and the more extensive the TM(s), the better the new TUs will be.

NoBabel Enhancer supports all English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish (EFIGS) bidirectional language pairs.

Also it supports in both directions English paired with:

  • Dutch
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • Japanese
  • Korean

For the Enhancer, you are charged for the difference between the number of weighted words you have to translate using only your TM(s) and the number of weighted words you have to translate using both your TM(s) and the new Enhancer TM. If, with the Enhancer, you do not reduce the number of weighted words you have to translate or do not deem the reduction worthwhile, you do not have to purchase anything.

To ensure the security of everyone who accesses NoBabel we require the registration of all users.

Registered users have their own separate spaces on our servers. Proprietary files uploaded by one registered user are not leveraged or cross-referenced in any manner against those of other registered users. Uploaded documents and TMs can be deleted by their registered users whenever they choose to do so. However, please note that deleted files cannot be recovered.

Since NoBabel Enhancer runs completely on our servers, your computer resources will not be used and you are free to log out and log back in at any time. Logging out while you have jobs running will not cause them to stop.

There are different types of Enhancer projects you can use to process your documents and TMs. The following chart outlines the main differences. We suggest that you consult it before deciding upon which type of Enhancer project is best for each of your translation jobs.

Types of Enhancer Projects

Type Languages TMs and Documents
Basic
  • 1 Source Language
  • 1 Target Language
  • 1 TM and 1 or more Documents
  • Documents in 1 Source Language
Advanced – Common
  • 1 Source Language
  • 1 or more Target Languages
  • 1 or more TMs and 1 or more Documents
  • Documents in 1 Source Language
Advanced – Mixed
  • 1 or more Source Languages
  • 1 or more Target Languages
  • 1 or more TMs and 1 or more Documents
  • Documents in 1 or more Source Languages

With the Enhancer Basic you can create a project and then upload and run the document(s) and related TM only once. While with the Enhancer Advanced, both Common and Mixed, you can create a project and then upload and run the document(s) and the related TM(s) as often as you wish. That is, with a Basic project you can do only 1 job while with an Advanced project you can do many jobs.

The Enhancer Basic and Enhancer Advanced User Guides explain how to use NoBabel Enhancer. To begin, we suggest you start with an Enhancer Basic project. However, if you prefer to start with a more elaborate project, you can do an Enhancer Advanced project.

Before you begin your first Enhancer project we recommend you carefully read the relevant Enhancer User Guide or at least the relevant “Overview of an Enhancer Project” page, either the one in the relevant Enhancer User Guide or the one in the relevant Enhancer Project pages.

To access the “Overview” pages in the Enhancer Project pages in the Side Menu under “Enhancer” click on “Overview – Basic Project” and “Overview – Advanced Project”. Or at the bottom of the “Introduction to NoBabel Enhancer” page in the Enhancer Project pages click on the relevant “here” either the one in the sentence, “To begin a Basic project, click here.” or in the one in the sentence, “To begin an Advanced project, click here.”

As you are using the Enhancer if you require help understanding any of the Enhancer Project pages, just click on the relevant Help icon and a popup will appear with information to help you. You can also in the Side Menu under "Enhancer" click on either "Help – Basic Project" or "Help – Advanced Project".
